The Gunnedah Regional Championship was held on the weekend with Bega scoring 1610 points – almost 700 points ahead of second place.
Bega’s acting captain Gerard Hanscombe said it was the result of a lot of dedication and training from the team of Clinton Towill, Cassandra Dickson, Trent Smith, Trent Galli and himself.
“This is the best the Bega team has ever gone, in the last three to four years. It all comes down to practice and everyone chipped in and performed unbelievably well,” he said.
Mr Hanscombe said they won four out of six events on the first day of the competition, coming second in the other two which put them in a good position straight away, before again winning a couple of events on the second day.
Attending the championships for the last 40 years, Bega is the current state champions and will defend their title in Dubbo in October.
