On May 2 and 3, one of Australia's leading disaster recovery trauma experts will visit Tathra to help people with their recovery journey.
Dr David Younger is a clinical psychologist with extensive experience providing support and assistance to communities impacted by natural disasters.
Organised by the NSW Government, Bega Valley Shire Council and the Australian Red Cross, Dr Younger’s free sessions will discuss when and how recovery occurs and how to help fire affected friends and neighbours.
There will be two community wellbeing sessions, one from 7:30-9:30pm on Wednesday, May 2 at the Tathra Surf Club and another from 10am to 12pm on Thursday, May 3 at Tathra Hall.
The sessions are free and refreshments are provided. Register your interest at the NSW Disaster Recovery Facebook page or just come along on the day.
The Pathway Home expo aims to ease residents with fire affected homes into the property repair or rebuild process.
The expo will be held at the Tathra Public School hall from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, May 12.
It is designed to provide a forum for the exchange of information between homeowners and designers, builders and other allied professionals and facilitate rebuilding proposals for submission to Bega Valley Shire Council or private certifiers.
Methods to enhance the design of replaced or repaired buildings in regard to energy efficiency and bushfire resistant construction will also be explored.
