Former Queensland deputy premier and treasurer Terry Mackenroth has been diagnosed with a lung tumour after being admitted to hospital with pneumonia.

Mr Mackenroth, who overcame lung cancer almost 20 years ago, says a tumour was found as part of routine testing for pneumonia and he's lucky it was caught early.
"Anyone who knows me knows that I am a fighter and I'll do whatever it takes to achieve a positive outcome," Mr Mackenroth said in a statement.
He did not specifically say if the tumour was cancerous or not.
Mr Mackenroth overcame lung cancer after he was diagnosed in 1998.
He made a full recovery and continued serving in state parliament until he retired in July 2005. Since then he's worked in the private sector.
