Cultural display
Members of the Merimbula-Imlay Historical Society share diverse cultural backgrounds and they tell their stories in a photographic display at the Old School Museum. The exhibition titled “My Culture, My Story” will be launched on Sunday, April 22, at 2pm and all are invited to attend, and to share a delicious afternoon tea. Please note there will be no general meeting of the Society at the RSL this month.
Radio open day
The Bega Valley’s Community Radio Broadcaster 93.7 EDGE FM will be holding an open day to coincide with their car boot sale on Saturday, April 28.
The station will be open for inspection and there will be half price membership available.
All proceeds will go to 93.7 EDGE FM, your community radio station. Car boot sale places are $15 or $10 if you are a 93.7 Edge FM member. Contact Richard on 0488 628 969 to reserve your space.
93.7 EDGE FM has been broadcasting in the Bega Valley for well over 20 years. This year we are undertaking a drive to increase the local content of the station.
Over the last few of months there has been three new presenters trained and now presenting their show.
Andrew Ogilvie, of ABC fame joined our ranks when he retired from full time at the ABC and now has a permanent locally produced show on Tuesdays, “The Way We Were” and features many special segments visiting past historic events in the music industry.
There are also many local presenters who have weekly shows with vast musical genres covered during the week.
If you would like to be trained to present a show and have an idea you wish to pursue as a radio presenter, then contact the station by email station@edgefm.org.au.
You can also contact 93.7 EDGE FM on their Facebook page or via the web site www.edgefm.org.au
Crafty milestone
Members of the Candelo Craft Group have celebrated 20 years of friendship and enjoying many ways of creating craft items with workshops and sharing ideas.
Four inaugural members were present to enjoy a tasty morning tea and delicious lunch with many other members, followed by the cutting of the 20th birthday cake, and the members also celebrated by donating a cheque to support the Tathra Fire Appeal.
Meals on Wheels
Seniors Week was celebrated at the Meals on Wheels Centre in Bega last Friday. The Rural Fire Brigade gave an interesting talk on the importance of smoke detectors in all homes.
The 69 seniors who attended received a wooden spoon with the slogan "while cooking keep looking" referring to stove safety.
