Aitken in eyes of Origin selectors

Former Merimbula-Pambula footballer Euan Aitken is making himself noticed.

South Sydney Rabbitoh Greg Inglis told metro media that he was “embarrassed” to be beaten by his opposite as Aitken scored the Dragon’s opening try in their fifth consecutive win last weekend.

However, what Aitken was perhaps not prepared for was the amount of discussion that now surrounds the St George centre as a Blues jumper contender.

Most would think going for a field goal when the Bunnies were two points behind would rate higher on GI’s most embarrassing moments.

However, the report has made no small impact on Aitken’s chances as arguably one of the best centres in the competition at the moment.

The 22-year-old has already been named man of the match for the Dragons this season with some standout performances.

And with GI a likely shoe-in to the QLD roster, selectors are eyeing off the Dragons prodigy, who scooted past his rival.
