An estimated 200-plus trucks of all shapes and sizes joined the procession along Carp St to the Bega Showground in front of hundreds of spectators.
The trucks were joined by a contingent of motorbikes and other vintage machines.
The family-focused event also had a special surprise for young spectators, with Mack – the transport truck for Lightning McQueen in the Pixar movie, Cars – making a special appearance.
Kids (of all ages) enjoyed getting their photo taken with Mack and the Cars race podium.
“This day is all about the kids, so we’re trying to do something special for them that will make their day,” Even organiser Adam Twyford said.
Mr Twyford said he had only been expecting around 150 trucks so to see more than 200 show up was great.
The biennial Convoy for Kids is a fundraiser for Bega Valley Can Assist, which supports cancer patients and their families in the shire.
Mr Twyford said about $12,000 had been raised before the convoy even set off, “so if we don’t crack $50,000 I’d be very surprised”. A final figure should be known a little later this week.
“It’s a fantastic effort all round. All of this support and effort is what makes me want to come back and do it all again,” he said on the day to the large crowd.
