Group members gathered for a celebratory dinner handing over their donation to Mayor Kristy McBain at the Lakeview Hotel April 6.
The virtual challenge was completed by participants who set goals by nominating a distance to complete within the month of March.
The challenge was completed by 46 runners both local and interstate, Steph Auston achieved the greatest distance of 552km.
The group congratulated each other on their running achievements and look forward to participating in future events the club is to host.
Sapphire Coast Runners welcome new members of any age or fitness level, group member Heather Gee said it is also “a great way to meet like minded people and get social with a coffee and have a chat after a run.”
“The group attracts every single age and level, it isn’t just filled with runners, some walk too,” she said.
Skylar Roberts aged 10-years-old achieved 50km with her “super dog” fox terrier, Archie.
“I really like running, Archie gets home from our runs and is like ‘is that it’”, she said.
The Sapphire Coast Runners club aim to encourage health and wellbeing through the sport of running, they unofficially meet Tuesday and Thursday nights and Sunday morning for the Park run.
Committee member Donella Roberts said “the club is excited to launch the trail run series which is a 10km open event for adults and a 2km kids trail event which will be at Mandini.”
