“First of all, a huge thanks to the Rural Fire Service, police and the volunteer firefighters who drove into danger to save people, property and pets,” Cr McBain said.

“Without them we would be in a much worse situation.

“I also want to thank this beautiful, resilient community who are all doing everything they can to offer help.”

Cr McBain said council staff would be getting back into the affected area once given the all clear by fire authorities.

“Staff will be assessing different areas today and we’re moving machinery into position on standby for when it’s needed,” she said.

Cr McBain said the council was looking to set up a donation line and website so the community can offer assistance in central coordinated way.
