Jockey Patrick Scorse was a rider to get behind during the Sapphire Coast Turf Club’s Tradies Race Day.

Scorse rode a treble on the day, picking up two top finishes by the third race on Friday.

Officials said the run was a highlight for Scorse, especially given the immense fields and strong competition on the day.

In race one, he led Trumbo to the line out of the Mick Miladinovic stables to victory over race favourite Cyclone Maci.

He replicated the result in race three for trainer Wayne Hudd, riding Bare Foot Babe to the line ahead of favourite Zardoro.

Completing the triple was a ride to the front on the Barbara Joseph-trained Inch Perfect in race eight.

The Merimbula Cup ran in conjunction with the Tradies Day meet and was claimed by Failed Approach with apprentice jockey Aaron Sweeney claiming the spoils.

Honours among the trainers were shared, but Canberra-based trainer Paul Falcoory was among the best, scoring a win and a pair of runner-ups during the eight-race card.

Racegoers were also able to nab a full day of activity as the club partnered with the Pambula-Merimbula Golf Club.

A number of people enjoyed an ambrose golf round at the Pambula-Merimbula course before a free bus and reserved seating at the race meet.

There were also classic cars on display as well as a bit of a tradies’ expo featuring some heavy equipment and latest in the industry.

Officials said it was a spectacular day with the track in pristine condition.
