After 18 months under construction, the Tathra Hotel was full of life on Wednesday night as those who helped in the redevelopment of the pub came together for a well-earned drink.
Local tradesmen and suppliers took a tour around the completed building, while kitchen and bar staff adjusted to their new workplace.
Sydney-based architect Sue O’Connor was on site to inspect her design in its physical form.
She said completing the work was a huge accomplishment on behalf of Tathra Hotel owner Cliff Wallis and the renovation team.
“We had to rebuild everything, Cliff has a great eye for detail, so we’re so glad to bring it to fruition in such a beautiful way,” she said.
“It was important for us to respect the heritage of the building, but we also wanted to encapsulate the magnificent view from this site.”
The glass-fronted extension now allows guests to take in sweeping views across the Tathra headland.
The Tathra Hotel will open to the public later this month.
