After three games of 12 ends on Saturday, teams were then graded into A, B, and C grades based on their performances.
Saturday's weather allowed bowlers to produce some very close results for the grading committee. However, on Sunday Bega experienced extremely strong winds and most bowlers agreed these were the most testing wind conditions that they had ever experienced on a bowling green.
Bega's greenkeeper had the greens in tip top condition for the tournament with the speed being approximately 17 seconds. With the strong winds now prevailing all day on the Sunday there were whispers around the greens that the speed of the green had increased further, making some of the more experienced bowlers look like beginners.
Wayne Morris and his team mates from Sale won C grade; in B grade it was Bert Ingram and Neil Brotherton from Bombala ably assisted by Peter Turner from Bega; and A grade’s Paul McGrath and Linton Riddell from Tathra were ably assisted by Howard Blacker from Bega to the win.
Bega Men’s Bowling Club is very grateful to new sponsor Tarra Motors for their support, with dealer principal John Stylianou agreeing to sponsor this event for a further two years.
