Parkinson’s Support Group
Tania Dwyer, local consultant pharmasist, was the guest speaker at the September meeting of the Bega Valley Parkinson’s Support Group. Tania makes an annual visit to the group to discuss any new Parkinson’s medication that has become available as well as any general medication that members of the group need to help their life with Parkinson's. The numerous questions from the members to Tania showed the value of her presentation.
The President Bob McDonald and Secretary Jean Nicholson attended a support group leaders conference in Sydney. The two-day conference was of great value to the leaders and some very good information was forthcoming to help in the operation of the group. A full report will be presented at the October meeting.
Members of the group are reminded that the CEO of Parkinson’s NSW Jo-Anne Reeves will be our guest at the November 6 meeting. All members are urged to attend as well as anyone from the public. The next meeting has been put back a week to October 9 due to the fact that the first Monday is a public holiday.

Men’s breakfast
Our next Men’s Breakfast at St John’s will be on October 7 at our usual time of 8am, and at our usual venue, St John’s Hall, Auckland St, Bega. We will have an excellent guest speaker in Ron Watts, a pilot who has flown for many years on humanitarian missions for MAF in some of the most challenging and dangerous areas of the world.
He also flies with our Angel Flight team in Australia. Not content with all that, he is the author of books with a flying background and also holds the Australian record for the most take-offs and landings in one day. And to cap it all he will bring with him a display aircraft on trailer for us to look at. Sounds terrific!
Our usual hearty breakfast and relaxed fellowship will ensure a great men’s morning. We hope you will share it with us, and any friends will also be most welcome. We look forward to seeing you on October 7.
