Brigades across the Bega Valley are giving residents a chance to chat one on one with their firefighters to determine their level of bush fire risk, discuss risk reduction tactics and develop a bush fire survival plan for their family and property.
The RFS advises that one of the most important things you can do ahead of bush fire season is have a conversation in you home about exactly what you will do in a bush fire. The predict this conversation takes as little as 20 minutes, but could be life saving.
On Saturday, September 16 meet local firefighters at Jellat fire station from 11am-3pm, Bega fire control centre from 10am-2pm or Wolumla Primary School from 10am-2pm.
For more locations and advice, see the NSW RFS website.
