Researchers from the Australian War Memorial, Indigenous Services NSW State Library and the National Archives will be at Club Sapphire on August 12 from 10am to help you start the journey back through your family history.
Local historical societies will also be exhibiting their collections, from Bermagui to Mallacoota and out to the Snowy Mountains.
The free event will kick off at 10.30am with a performance by bush poet Peter O’Brien. This will be followed by various presentations aimed at teaching people how to start their family history.
There will be lucky door prizes and a free goodie bag to the first 100 people through the door.
Researchers from the Australian War Memorial, Indigenous Services NSW State Library and from the National Archives will also be available to give you some tips and guidance, and to show you their online resources.
At the Australian War Memorial stand, you’ll be able to find out how to research someone who served with Australian forces during times of war using nominal rolls and personal service records. The Indigenous Services team from the NSW State Library will be available to talk about their Connecting Culture: Tracing Ancestors programand guide you towards Indigenous family history resources.
