“Hopefully it will reduce our power bills, aside from what it does to reduce carbon emissions.”
Mr Wallis said he is waiting for a section of glass roof to be installed and the hotel will be ready to open its doors to customers.
He said he and his wife Sayaka live life as sustainably as possible.
“We have the philosophy in our business as well, in terms of things like reducing our waste,” he said.
He said the planned upgrades to the hotel uncovered structural work that needed to be done, which has led to the months-long closure.
“We can see the light at the end of the tunnel now,” Mr Wallis said.
