Fling Physical Theatre recently presented a short work in Melbourne for a sold-out audience, as part of Emergence, a showcase of work by youth dance companies from around Australia.
The performance was held at the historic Arts House Meat Market in North Melbourne as part of the Australian Youth Dance Festival (AYDF) 2017.
Thirteen young performers from Fling travelled to Melbourne to attend AYDF and were among 96 participants who engaged in four days of workshops with national and international dance artists.
For two of the 13 company performers, the trip was their first time in Melbourne.
The festival, presented by Ausdance Victoria, was attended by six youth dance companies from around Australia.
Fling’s performance at Emergence was well received, capturing and celebrating the individuality of the performers involved.
Based on introducing the Fling company to the audience, the piece included humorous spoken text listing statistics about the Bega Valley and the company’s trip to Melbourne.
