Behind the Image, showing at The Crossing Gallery on Sharpe St in Candelo, is an exhibition of photographs surrounding the history of the town.
The exhibition explores some of the forgotten stories of the people and events who have shaped the town.
Candelo’s early history is well documented by artists such as J. Browne and photographers such as Charles Kerry, and some of their work is part of the exhibition.
Also on display are images from the making of the movie Life Class, which was predominantly set in Candelo.
The film’s story is based around a small village just after the war, and the division in town caused by a foreigner.
The exhibition opened over the Easter long weekend and will run until April 23 to coincide with the Candelo Village Festival.
