Seckold was selected for the Australian team that will compete in the World Championships of Beach Frisbee.
Matches will be held in Royan, France from June 18-24, but it will be the first time competing on the sand for the 32-year-old.
Frisbee can be a fun summer pastime, but has also taken on an action-packed format as a team sport, known as beach ultimate.
Seckold said she would take part in a number of training sessions on the sand to get used to the surface as the Aussies will play across five divisions at the WCBU.
“It’s the largest contingent ever at this event,” she said.
“The world championships will feature national teams from 39 countries around the world, playing the highest level of beach ultimate on the beaches of Royan.”
Seckold said it would be a huge competition with more than 1800 athletes expected to descend on the southwest France town.
“The opening ceremony and games start on June 18 and the finals are to be played on the Friday and Saturday,” she said.
The Bega export has been part of the ACT women’s and mixed teams for the past six years and decided to step up her game this year.
She said she spent months preparing for selection trials that were held on the Gold Coast last month.
Seckold said it had been “an agonising three week wait” since the trials before she learned her inclusion in the green and gold roster.
“I’ve been putting in the hard yards over the last couple of months for the selections, but now the real work begins with just over three months to prepare to don the green and gold,” she said.
“Running on the sand is tough for the players, but I’m confident that with the depth and strength of the team, we can go really far.”
The sport is governed by the World Flying Disc Federation and operates as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
