Former ABC South East Radio personality Ian Campbell has taken the reins as announcer for this year’s Far South Coast National Show, after long time stalwart Angus Lane was unavailable for the event.
“It’s been a nice slow start,” he said on Friday morning as he interviewed contestants and the myriad visiting school children.
“It’s nice to walk around and talk to the experts,” he said with a smile.
“That’s what I love about the show, the passion and the skill of everyone involved.
“These people work hard to make a living in this area and the show supports that.”
Mr Campbell said although the show is rooted in tradition, there is always an interest from the committee to do things a little differently each year.
“Lots of people are looking forward to the Tim O’Brien Boggy Creek Show this year, demonstarting the skills of horsemanship,” he said.
“They’re pretty excited it’s here in Bega this year.”
The Far South Coast National Show runs from Friday and concludes with the annual demolition derby on Sunday, February 19.
