Club president Scott Byrnes said the club enjoyed some outstanding results.
“Tayla and Brooke Smith, Darcy, Harrison and Curtis Woodley, Amber Meyers and Amelia and Rylan Byrnes swam their hearts out taking big chunks off their personal best times,” Byrnes said.
Rylan, just 7, Harrison and Darcy all had podium finishes in multiple sprint events to earn themselves a spot in the SESA team to take on the sprint finals.
The finals will be held at the Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre in March and the swimmers could get the chance to meet some Olympic stars at the event.
Mr Byrnes said despite the extreme heat over the weekend, Tayla had qualified for country in the 100m breaststroke and backstroke, Harrison in the 50m freestyle, Curtis the 50m Freestyle and Darcy in both the 50m freestyle and 100m breaststroke.
“Tayla even pulled out a state qualifying time for good measure,” Byrnes said emphatically.
The club’s swim coach Zoe Philipzen said this was an excellent result for Bega with three brothers all qualifying for and attending country at the same time.
“All the kids swam excellently and I am super proud of everyone's efforts this weekend,” Philipzen said.
