All turned up to chat with the others from their community and to see who would receive the town’s top honours this year.
Well-known face around Cobargo Dave Rugendyke took out the Citizen of the Year for his work on the school of arts committee, the show society, the fire brigade, getting the local skate park built and, of course, giving up his time to be Santa on the town’s streets every December.
Eliza-Jane Norris, 11, was named Junior Citizen of the Year for her achievements that included going to nine championships in six different sports, being ACT’s 1500m champion in her grade and breaking records in swimming and running.
