While one protester is reportedly still in the “tree-sit”, others have been moved on by police.
According to a spokesperson for the protesters, currently on site, the “tree sitter” is still inside the logging compartment, situated along Tin Mine Rd.
The spokesperson said NSW Police Rescue have been called to the site from Wollongong to free logging machinery currently attached by three steel cables.
The spokesperson said contractors arrived at 7am on Tuesday morning and are waiting on site with members of state-run Forestry Corporation of NSW and NSW Police, who arrived on site at around 11am.
The protesters allege they have uncovered evidence of illegal logging of rock outcrops in the escarpment forest.
