The community-owned, not-for-profit facility has been undergoing a significant expansion this year, with the construction of Stage One approaching completion.
Bega and District Nursing Home CEO Jim Butterworth said in early December, residents will be shifted across to the brand new rooms and facilities ahead of Stage Two renovations of the current building.
The BDN had a quick tour through the construction site this week as fixtures and final touches are being put in place heading into the final month.
Residents will enjoy one of 47 new bedrooms, all set up for a single resident rather than shared, multiple communal lounge areas and three separate dining areas and serveries.
There are also several outdoor courtyards for residents to enjoy as they wander their new home, with numerous plants sourced through Tulgeen’s Riverside Nursery.
The BDN is planning a more in-depth tour and inside look at Hillgrove House State One in coming weeks in the lead-up to December’s opening. Keep an eye on our paper and website for more details.
Fundraising for the redevelopment is continuing with the community urged to dig deep for the not-for-profit facility.
Donations can be made at Hillgrove House or at Wespac Bega: BSB 032 682, account 151 258.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
