Held over Saturday and Sunday, it was organised by the Bermagui Chamber of Commerce to encourage people to visit Bermagui during the quieter period after the end of winter.
Aside from fun runs and an ocean swim, there were plenty of activities on offer such as whale watching, yoga, boxing, meditation, kayaking and Tai Chi as well as therapy stalls including reflexology, massage and naturopathy.
ReBoot committee member Lisa Miller-Bradley was running the stand up paddleboarding on Sunday, an activity that had been booked out.
“The thing I love about this weekend is how it gives people a chance to try new activities like stand up paddleboarding with a minimal cost,” she said.
“We try to break down the barriers of trying something new and made it more accessible.”
On Monday, Bermagui Chamber of Commerce executive and chair of the ReBoot committee Julie Rutherford said the weekend had been great and provided a boost for local businesses.
She said people came from as far away as Canberra, Sydney, Victoria, Cooma and the area around Wagga Wagga and Albury for the event.
“We have people who come just for ReBoot in Bermagui now, they’re making it an annual event,” she said.
Ms Rutherford said the event did make a difference to local businesses, as it brought an extra 300-400 people to the area.
Nine-year-old Austin McKee entered Sunday’s ocean swim with his brother 10-year-old Harrison and their friend eight-year-old Samuel Glasson. The young swimmers from Bermagui said the swim was fun and definitely challenging.
“We just wanted to give it a go and see how challenging it was,” Samuel said.
The trio had also entered the 1km fun run the day before, in which Samuel came third.
The ocean swim was the first such race for Kumi Takakura of Bermagui, who had only been in the ocean three times before.
While it was “very scary” she said she would do it again next year.
“I’m so glad I did it,” Ms Takakura said on Sunday.
“I only decided to do it this morning!”
ReBoot will be held again next year on the last weekend of September.
