Kylah is the second daughter for parents Bonnie Needs and Izaac Rae, of Bermagui.
She was born at 3.13am on March 10, weighing 3.2kg.
“It all went really well, and really quickly – we were only in for two hours before she was born,” Ms Needs said.
The couple said it was a close thing as it is a 50-minute drive from home and at first, Mr Rae didn’t believe it was finally happening.
“Bonnie actually went into labour eight weeks ago and was taken to Canberra Hospital. She’s been having contractions ever since.”
However, it all went smoothly on the day and big sister Lexie, 2, is very excited.
“She just want to kiss her all the time,” Ms Needs said.
The new surrounds of the SERH maternity wing are “really nice and a very big upgrade” on the Bega District Hospital ward, they said.
“And everybody’s so excited and coming in to say congratulations,” Mr Rae said – meaning the staff as well as family and friends!
