The local branch of the PCYC launched in an energetic way on Saturday, January 30, with a “come and try” day of kung fu, Brazilian jiu jitsu and boxing on the Bega High School basketball courts.
A large group of youngsters and their parents were given a good workout by martial arts master Maurice Llewellyn before breaking for a sausage sizzle lunch and well-earned cold drinks.
Mr Llewellyn has over 33 years of martial arts experience in self defence and full contact competition.
Despite his American heritage, he served in the Royal Australian Army as a soldier and physical training instructor before calling the Bega Valley home.
His qualifications are world class and in addition to martial arts classes conducted for the past few years in Wolumla, he is exercising his desire to teach children through PCYC.
