The school is a participant in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation, in a program that teaches Australian children positive food habits through fun and hands-on learning.
Students have weekly garden or kitchen-based classes, integrated with other aspects of their education, which teach them the value of producing and consuming freshly grown food.
The Garden Club also donated funds sufficient to pay for two electric stoves for the school's classroom kitchen.
This week, club members were invited to a school lunch, prepared by staff and students. The fare was delicious and of course healthy consisting of red lentil, tomato and pumpkin soup, beetroot leaf onion tart, focaccia, and a mixed salad, with almond & raspberry friand for dessert.
Two talented young pianists provided a musical accompaniment.
Following the lunch, members were given a tour of the impressive and still developing vegetable garden.
