Local riders Ben Parker and Tom Park showed the 10-strong group some of the 40km network of singletrack in bushland surrounding Tathra.
“I heard whispers of a good-quality track at Tathra, so we organised a ride to check it out,” said Matt Larkins from Pedal Power ACT.
“It is truly unbelievable such a high-quality track has been built by volunteers in such a remote township.”
Legendary East Kowen track builder James Hall was amazed at the presentation of the tracks.
“These tracks are so smooth with constant changes to suit the terrain,” he said.
“As a fellow track builder, the design, track making and signage at Tathra is world class.
“Andy [track designer Andy Johnson] and his team have done a superb job.
“We didn’t realise the tracks were located so close to the beach and town facilities.
“Next time we come back, we’ll bring our partners and families as this place is fantastic,” said Hall, a member of the infamous “Koslowski Brothers” trail building team.
Mr Johnson said the majority of riders on the Tathra MTB tracks were visitors.
“We are trying to encourage locals to ride or walk our tracks,” he said.
“It would be great to see more locals out there, so we are running an introduction to mountain biking and other rides and events over the coming October long weekend.”
