Scoring a win over the Bay Tigers, the Moruya Sharks wrapped up the honour with a stronger for and against.
It was the worst loss of the season for the Roosters as the Stallions took a rousing 44-18 win.
The Stallions led 24-4 at the break and outgunned the Bega forward pack to cruise home.
Jeffrey Donald and Liam Saunders were the main contenders in the ruck for the home side.
Meanwhile, Corey Thomas proved a handful for the Bega side with support from busy half Joel Smith.
The loss means the Roosters miss the chance to host the major semi-final.
Cooma will play an elimination final with the Merimbula-Pambula Bulldogs on Saturday.
The Bega club will host the Eden Tigers at the Bega ground on Sunday.
The winner will go to the major semi against the Sharks.
Officials said the Stallions are now viewed as premiership contenders, while the Roosters were left pondering what might have been.
There was another bitter pill for the Roosters to swallow as the reserve grade side went down for the fourth consecutive week.
The reserves fell 26-14 to the Stallions after holding a narrow edge late in the first half.
It was the Stallions’ interchange to inject life into the home side and secure a solid win for the Cooma club.
It was a painful afternoon for the Roosters after the morning matches had started so well for the Bega club.
The under 18s secured the minor premiership, and an undefeated season, with a resounding 42-22 win.
It wasn’t as easy as the scoreboard read with the the Stallions getting within four points at 26-22.
However, the Roosters found their focus and began playing solid simple football with good structure.
Jackson Whitby off the interchange raced home to score two fine tries, giving him three for the match.
Other contributors on the day were Luke Dowdle and Connor Carr in the front row, while Mitch Duncan never stopped trying to give his side the ascendancy.
Halfback Nathan Curtis was busy throughout the match, while Zac Cuzner was solid throughout the contest.
Roosters coach James Scott was a relieved man, but said Cooma put the Bega unbeaten run in danger.
“We allowed Tyler Jones too much room to move at dummy half and nearly paid the consequences,” Scott said.
“We had to dig deep to get out of it, we got a reality check today and with finals football now upon us we will need to lift a gear if we are to maintain our record.”
The win then saw the much anticipated clash between the Chicks and the Cooma Fillies.
The Chicks dominated the territory from the kick off.
Joccoaa Rogers almost had the Bega outfit to a dream start with a quick chip kick that was run down by her team.
However, the try was disallowed.
Bega were camped in the Fillies half and it was only individual runs from Katie and Abbey Schofield and a dangerous Meg Bracher that was causing the Chicks defence to be extended.
Bega struck when Trudi Badullovich in a smart change of pace and step stood up two defenders and then beat the fullback with a great dummy to score under the posts.
The Chicks were spreading the ball at every opportunity but it was a handling error by the Cooma side in front of their posts which saw Rogers swoop and pick up the loose ball and score under the posts.
With her two conversions, the lead extended to 12-0.
The second half saw the Chiks working hard against a much more determined Fillies side.
Georgina Pearce was tagging brilliantly to hinder several Bracher, Schofield and Katelyn Patrick runs.
A lapse in defence saw the Fillies take a chance with Kate Schofield crossing.
With renewed momentum the Cooma side lurched forward, but in a last gasp effort Kezie Apps stopped what looked like a certain try.
The combination of Jacinta Dummett and Pearce had Bega fans on their feet, but the promising raid was left wanting.
Semi-final matches will run on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.
Matches will be held in Cooma on Saturday, while the Roosters will feature in three matches on Sunday.
As minor premiers, the club’s under 18s will enjoy a week off before the major semi-final.
The Roosters will clash with the Eden Tigers in first grade, the Candelo-Bemboka Panthers in reserves and Bombala in the women’s clash.
The club said the finals were hosted by Group 16 and no alcohol or vehicles would be permitted into the Bega Recreation Ground on Sunday.
