The clubs sit level on the first grade ladder and the result will be paramount to deciding a minor premier. 

The Sharks still lead on for and against with just two rounds left to play. 

Surprisingly, both clubs are coming off last round losses with Bega capitulating to Batemans Bay and Moruya to Eden.

However, both clubs sit clear at the top of the ladder with Eden and Cooma holding down third and fourth respectively several points behind. 

The Sharks are buoyed with the performances of former NRL and Australian player Michael Weyman who has completed the full 80 minutes of his last two outings and his appearance is sure to be a draw card.

“The visitors boast a talented line of ball players with Aaron Brierley, Sam Howlett and Jake Clarke the lynchpins,” Roosters president Garry Arkin said. 

Luke Jay and Shane Colebrook will partner up with Weyman in the front lines to lead the visitors’ charge. 

The Roosters pack, headed up by captain-coach Ryan Apps, includes a formidable roster. 

“Scott Fuller, Hayden Parbery, Mitch Carter, Clay Child and Scott Orr  are a busy band of contributors,” Arkin said. 

“Off the back of this, halves Blake Robinson and James Bower-Scott are expected to come into the game and spark the attack through centres Brenton Blair and Adam Blacka.”

Bega team manager Jeff Apps said the Roosters have trained well this week and will be ready for a bold showing at home. 

“The reserve grade contest is another clash with the high flying Sharks having their colours lowered only once this season and that was to CBU at Bemboka,” Arkin said. 

However, in the last round, the Sharks recorded a comfortable win over the Eden Tigers and will be confident ahead of Sunday’s clash. 

It has been a rough trot for the side and captain-coach Wayne Northey is eager to see a turnaround. 

Northey worked hard with his side in preparation for this game on Sunday and the Roosters are keen to back into the winners’ circle.

Meanwhile, the Bega Chicks are looking to hold on to a top two spot in the women’s contest. 

They face off against the Sharkettes, who are coming off a last gasp loss to the Eden Tigerettes.

Kane Morgan has his charges well drilled and a disciplined performance is what he is looking for from his team.

The Chicks will travel to Cooma in the final round to meet the Fillies, so this game will provide a real stepping stone toward the finals. 

Georgina Pearce, Bronty Burhop, Lily Warby and Alliera Bower-Scott  have formed the nucleus of the side since their inception and goal kicking of  skipper Joccoaa Rogers has been a real bonus for the team.

A win ensures the team a second chance in the finals and team manager Ricquel Umback  is confident the girls can grab the two points on offer on Sunday. 

The day will kick off with the under 18s in a top-of-the-table clash.

The Mark Hart Builders Bega squad is unbeaten and holds a commanding lead at the top of the competition, 

Moruya suffered a shock loss to the five-town combine last week and will be looking to rebound. 

Bega mentor James Scott will be looking to his side to play football he knows they are capable of and wants his side to be methodical in their execution.

Scott said the side “has been slow off the blocks and have not put early points on their opponents”.

“In fact we have had to overcome 0-10 deficits, so I’m also looking for us to get into the contest a bit earlier,” Scott said. 

The team is well-led by Mitch Duncan, who is a great listener and carries out Scott’s instructions to the letter. 

Team manager Steve Luff said Mitch will look to the likes of his brother James - a non-stop workhorse - and props Luke Dowdle and Connor Carr.

“The side is a work in progress as we advance toward the finals,” Scott said.

“And we still have some fine tuning to do in preparation for them, but I am confident the boys can give a great showing on Sunday.”

The mighty under 7s Roosters will also put on an exhibition display, while the club welcomes sponsors for refreshments and team photos at 12.30pm. 

Club executives Sally Spurling, Peter Ingram and Barbara Burton will be on hand with Garry Arkin to welcome guests.  

 Matches will run from 10.30am with the first grade to kick off at 2.30pm.
