The plan is being developed by SNSWLHD, in conjunction with ACT Health, for the delivery of cancer-related services to residents of the ACT and surrounding region of NSW.
In a statement, SNSWLHD CEO Max Anderson said the plan “articulates a vision for providing integrated, high-quality cancer care and support services to residents of the ACT and Southern NSW Local Health District over the next five years”.
“The draft plan acknowledges that in order to respond to increasing demand facing cancer services, a collaborative and cross-border effort is required to change the way we plan, organise, manage and implement services.
“The draft plan focuses on improving the experience of care and quality of life for people diagnosed and living with cancer through improved systems and programs.
“It emphasises prevention, early diagnosis and intervention, and provision of care outside the acute hospital setting.”
The draft plan is open for public comment for four weeks from July 28.
It can be found on the SNSWLHD website by clicking here.
Feedback on the plan should be forwarded to snswlhd.planning@gsahs.health.nsw.gov.au or to Zoe Harris, C/- Bega Hospital, PO Box 173, Bega NSW 2550.
