Wonderful creations of fibre art, wood, metal – and pastry! – will be on sale or auctioned off. Proceeds to aid the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Local ‘50s rock’n’roll band The Hoops will be performing a free gig from 6pm
Bega Showground, Saturday, gates open 8.30am
Grab a bargain and help support the community-run Bega Pre-School. This is the school’s main fundraising activity for the year. Jumping castle, face painting and a barbecue will be running all morning while second-hand goods, handmade crafts and so much more will entice every bargain hunter.
Colombo Park, Bemboka, Saturday, 3.45pm
Cheer on the Panthers as they make their official return to Colombo Park after 30 years in the wild. Heritage round means they will be sporting the “chocolate soldier” jerseys from the 1969 Penrith squad. Under 18 game from 1.15pm, followed by ladies league-tag, before the main event at 3.45pm.
Tanja Public School, Barrabooka Rd, 8.30am until 2.30pm
Browse the eclectic treasures of the second-hand book stall , the jumble of new and used clothing and a wide variety of food and drink to get you through the day. A music element has been added this year, with buskers, The Bermagui Singers and Bega Street Choir - and many more – to entertain the crowds.
5. Mother’s Day flower stall
Ayres Walkway, Bega, 9am until noon
Need a last-minute gift for mum? Bega Floral Art is again combining with the Bega Garden Club for their annual flower sale. Prices range from $5 to $25, with all proceeds to local charities. While you’re there, why not chat with the ladies about your own flower gardens or consider becoming a member.
