The Bega Valley Shire Council and the Bermagui Skate Park Committee have developed the plans and are now seeking any further comment from the community on the draft prior to adoption.
BVSC acting group manager of community and relationships Simon Schweitzer said the Bermagui Skate Park Committee has worked hard over many years to get the project off the ground.
“The skate park will be a fantastic asset for the community and visitors to the area, providing a great recreation activity for kids of all ages,” Mr Schweitzer said.
“The skate park has been identified in the plan of management for Dickinson reserve for many years and proposed location is in line with that – the north-western corner of the reserve.”
The council’s assets engineer, Richard Cunningham, said the Bermagui Skate Park was a community-driven project initiated to deliver long-awaited infrastructure.
“The community has been raising funds for the skate park for years and now it has also attracted funding from the State Government’s Community Building Partnerships program and from Bega Valley Shire Council,” Mr Cunningham said.
Copies of the draft plans are available for viewing on the council’s website under the “Have your say – Public Exhibition” link (click here), as well as in hard copy at the council’s Bega office and the Bermagui library.
Any comments regarding the project proposal can be sent to Richard Cunningham, PO Box 492, Bega, NSW, 2550, or by emailing rcunningham@begavalley.nsw.gov.au.
Submissions on the draft plan will be open until 5pm, April 4.
Construction is scheduled to start early in April and be complete by mid-May.
