As dark ominous clouds gathered over the Valley on Wednesday afternoon, the temperature dropped sharply from 27.1C at 3pm to 19C by 3.30pm.

According to Weatherzone.com.au the eight-degree fall was accompanied by a downpour of 9.2mm in the space of 15 minutes as well as 37kmh winds.
By 5pm the rainfall total was 9.8mm.
Merimbula Airport recorded around 17mm of rain in the same time frame.

In the ACT, the State Emergency Service was responding to 260 calls for help as of 5pm, most from the Tuggeranong area.
In one emergency a mother and baby waiting outside Queanbeyan Public School were hit by a falling tree branch and taken to hospital.
