The meeting starts at 7pm at the Bemboka Memorial Hall and members of the local community are invited to participant in the discussion.
A flyer for the meeting states: “Town Hall Meeting. Open invitation to all who care about our Bemboka Swimming Pool and wish to discuss what we can do, as a community, to help make sure that our pool really does open again next season.”
Bemboka Pool closed on January 20 following the discovery of a chemical leak.
Bega Valley Shire Council, which operates the pool, found after further investigation that major faults were present requiring the facility be shut down for the remainder of the season.
The closure sparked concern among Bemboka residents the pool will not reopen in October as the council has stated, as well as questions about maintenance in recent years (BDN 4/2).
Monday night’s meeting has been organised by Bemboka resident and regular pool user Helmut Eder.
“I thought it would be a good idea to come out and show support for the pool reopening,” he said.
“The pool is really important to the town and I’ve had good feedback from people about the meeting.
“Going to other council operated pools may be fine in the short term, but it’s not sustainable for people here,” Mr Eder said.
