A bunch of “Gumnuts” have started their journey at Bermagui Public School.
Twenty-three pupils are in the school’s Kindergarten Gumnuts class in 2014.
The class is being taught by Narelle Pearson, with assistance from student learning support officer Jodie Nash.
When the BDN visited on Tuesday, the pupils had just finished singing and dancing.
Ms Pearson said the Kindies had enjoyed their first week at school.
“It was a split start last week – half [of the class] started on Thursday and half on Friday,” she said.
“They are all excited about starting school.”
The 23 pupils had their first taste of school life in late 2013 through the Kindy transition program.
Over a three-week period, the Kindies spent three days per week at Bermagui Public School.
When asked what their favourite activities at school were, the pupils said “painting, reading, playing on the fort and getting to know each other”.
