LITTLETON Gardens in Bega was packed on Sunday morning for the Bega Valley Shire's official Australia Day celebration.
After a free hot and hearty breakfast put on by the Bega Lions Club was enjoyed by many, our Bega Valley Shire Citizen and Young Citizens of the Year were announced, as well as the Bega Chamber of Commerce's Community Citizens of the Year.
The special guest for Sunday's celebration was the vivacious star of hit TV travel show Getaway Catriona Rowntree.
Ms Rowntree said Bega didn't have a say in who we got as our Australia Day Ambassador as she had begged for the role.
Her speech - and as she admitted, she is known for her ability to talk - was a rousing call to celebrate your passions and follow your dreams.
She said what we have in Australia is the envy of all others - and she should know!
The shire also welcomed five new Australian citizens - David Beck, Tazeen B Taj, John Lea, Brian Silvester and "Juls" from Cobargo.
