Bemboka chlorine leak closes pool

THE Bemboka Swimming Pool was closed on Monday after staff discovered there had been a chlorine leak from a tank on the site.

A HAZMAT team was called to assess the leak and Bega Valley Shire Council staff will conduct localised soil sampling once it is possible.

The Environment Protection Agency has been advised and the pool will be reopened once a full safety assessment has been completed.

The council said it will continue to inform the community of any progress through the media and on its Facebook page. A notice will also be posted at the pool.

People with class bookings at the pool have also been informed.

People wishing to swim are advised that other pools are open in Cobargo, Bega, Candelo, Pambula and Eden.
