As the Senior Planning and Environmental Specialist, you will be responsible for providing sound guidance and expertise around the land, planning and environment space. You will lead project teams to manage planning and environment issues, as well as the integration of land and property matters.

Your day will be filled with a variety of tasks, including (but not limited to):

• Building meaningful working relationships with a range of stakeholders such as; Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, VicRoads, Public Transport Victoria, Environment Protection Authority, Heritage Victoria, VicTrack and municipal councils.

• Leading planning and other processes – this includes planning scheme amendments, permit applications, environmental referrals and other approvals.

• Managing Land and Property team members and their deliverables, overseeing the collaboration of both your internal and other external disciplines.

What you’ll need to succeed
You will be an individual who has a strong sense of purpose in helping to transform the way Victorians live, work and travel: reshaping and revitalising our communities through major infrastructure projects. You will have extensive experience managing and providing technical advice on land, planning and environmental issues in major project context, including the management of publicly owned land.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to empower and motivate team members from a range of disciplines. Similarly, all applicants MUST have strong communication skills and the ability to build meaningful working relationships, as liaising with a wide audience will be a daily activity.

What will be expected from you?
• Proven knowledge of the Victoria planning and approvals process and legislations - with consideration to the development and delivery of major infrastructure projects.

• Relevant tertiary qualification in planning, environment, or a similar field is advantageous.

• Demonstrated experience in preparing planning, heritage and environmental approvals documentation, as well as preparing and reviewing external consultant briefs.

• Strong understanding of priorities, policies and processes at all levels of government.

Your new company
The client is responsible for overseeing one of Victoria’s largest ever infrastructure projects. Inclusion is a priority, and they are committed to creating an employee community that reflects those in which they work.

• The client values their role as leaders to actively increase female representation in the transport sector through practical support, professional development, and exposure to career opportunities.

• They are proud leaders and participants of internship programs that provide opportunities to people who identify as LGBTIQ, people living with a disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, refugees or asylum seekers or people from low socioeconomic backgrounds.

• They offer and encourage flexible work practices and purchased leave arrangements for all our employees to support wellbeing, family or carer commitments or other personal circumstances.

• They place great importance on growth, empowering people to enhance their knowledge, capability and experience through continual learning, formal training and lessons learned.

• Health, safety and wellbeing are at the heart of what we do. We focus on the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of our people to create a safe and healthy workplace for everyone, every day, everywhere.
