Our Water and Environment team deliver environmental assessments for key clients including ACT Government, DFAT, Defence and EvoEnergy. We are looking for an experienced Senior Environmental Planner to be based in a regional office location (Wollongong, Nowra, Bega, Canberra or Wagga Wagga), to complement our existing regional environment capability.

This opportunity would support an individual looking for a sea or tree change without the loss of career opportunity and development.  Alternatively, you might already be working in the area, and are looking to work on a diverse range of projects for a global consultancy.

This is a busy and varied role and will see you involved in : 

  • Working with the Environment Team Leader to drive key initiatives in the Water and Environment Business Group’s strategic plan
  • Contribute to the team’s success by leading the implementation of environment projects from proposal phase through to project completion
  • Undertake business development activities, help to secure new projects and develop trusted advisor relationships with clients
  • Supervision, training and mentoring of staff
  • Pursue technical excellence in the delivery of Environmental Assessment and Approvals projects for both the regional team and broader GHD
  • Being part of an agile and dynamic regional team, there will be some travel involved (where virtual meetings are not possible).  This may include travel to other regional offices.

What you will bring to the team

  • Be an accomplished practitioner in your field bringing 5+ years' experience to the role in environmental impact assessment
  • A strong local and regional market presence; an individual who can provide technical leadership and business development focus
  • Experience in providing technical recommendations for bids as well as writing and crafting proposals and reports for projects
  • Strong judgment and decisiveness; bias for action
  • Ability to influence others, good negotiating skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualification - Bachelor of Environmental Science/Engineering, Environmental Planning or Urban Planning
