On Sunday, the Tathra Football Club presented a United front when it hosted all four grades at home.
Meanwhile, the Tigers suffered losses at home to Eden in both women’s and reserves to see shifts on the ladder.
Officials said the club faced off against “a mix” of other clubs with the under 12s opening the card on a win, while the other grades were less successful.
The 12s were playing Eden Black and coach Dan Bakker said that “Eden was consistent throughout but Tathra worked some magic with great midfield pass-backs, defensive tackles and all-round team passing & positioning.”
Tathra took a 2-0 lead into half-time and finished with a 3-1 win that sees them maintain second on the ladder.
The competition-leading Bega White were the opponents for the United 16s on Sunday.
Bega are undefeated so far this season, but were under pressure after Marley McCabe opened the scoring for Tathra.
Tathra pressed Bega White and held their lead until the Bega team scored twice in the last 10 minutes.
United couldn’t find a late equaliser as the Devils snuck away with the 2-1 win.
The reserve grade was against the Bemboka Braves and officials said the home club had a poor start to trail 2-0 after just 10 minutes.
Tathra settled in to play and began some good passages of passing, but the Braves fired again to lead 3-0 at the break.
Tathra regrouped and performed better in the second half, defending well. Substitute goal keeper David Fantham had a standout performance making several great saves including two penalties. Tathra Reserves improved showing in the second half kept the final score to 3-0.
The first grade Tathra outfit took on the competition front-runners in the Wolumla Tigers – who are undefeated.
Tathra fought hard and created chances where Ned Povell was dangerous all day and has given Tathra a threatening target up front.
Wolumla keeper Ross Oldham had two one-on-one saves to keep the score 0-0 by half-time.
In the second half, Tathra fell behind by three goals before Ben Deighan scored late on in the match to finish with a 3-1 loss.
However, officials said the scoreline was an improvement on the last two rounds, particularly against the competition leaders and said there was good signs for the Tathra first grade heading into the final rounds.
Bega won first grade over Pambula 4-2, but lost in women’s.
