The community has rallied strongly behind Rural Fire Service firefighters and their colleagues in the NPWS and Fire and Rescue NSW. There were also countless people offering assistance at the evacuation centre and behind the scenes during this week’s terrible events.
To officially thank them, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian is returning to the Bega Valley on March 26 to host a light lunch in honour of all those who helped in some way, to be served up in the Bega Showground pavilion from 11am until 1pm.
There is an understandably large number of people who may like to attend. If you wish to do so, contact Andrew Constance’s Bega office to RSVP on 6492 2056, or shannon.whitford@parliament.nsw.gov.au.
Prior to the thank you lunch, the Premier will be at Tathra Headland in a show of solidarity with the community as well as to make a number of announcements sure to lift spirits in the bushfire-ravaged town.
