This new hub for orchestral music is based in Bermagui and will see SYO visiting the region at least twice per year and working with young musicians.
“Presenting opportunities like this for the young people in our region is a strong and real commitment by our organisation,” Four Winds artistic director James Crabb said.
We are so excited to partner with the SYO...and welcome them to Nature’s Concert Hall.

The partnership has already begun with a workshop day in Bega on March 17 when eight young string players from the region worked with Sergio Insuasti from The SYO.
The workshop was in preparation for a performance with SYO at Four Winds, the Sunday after the Easter Festival. SYO will be performing three works and will be joined for the Haydn Horn Concerto no. 2 by students from the region as part of the orchestra, with leading international conductor Alex Briger AO.
“This is a fabulous opportunity for our young string players to work with a conductor who is often seen conducting on the stages of concert halls around the world,” Mr Crabb said.
The 2018 Easter Festival also features activities for young people.
On Good Friday there is a great opportunity to explore physicality, percussion and performance with Sam Thomas – a highly skilled artist with a background in music and circus.
On Sunday, Holly Harrison will lead a workshop involving mobile technology, live musicians, film and mixing. The results will be published on the Four Winds website. Places are limited and bookings are esential.
There is a huge amount of music happening in Bermagui over the Easter Weekend as part of the Four Winds 2018 Easter Festival, including a free concert for the whole community on Dickinson Oval at 7pm on Good Friday.
Mr Crabb promised the concert will end with a large festival jam when he will collaborate with other musicians in a feel good Brazilian popular folk music genre called Choro.
