After a string of suicides in 2017, Lumen Christi Catholic College had organised Dr Carr-Gregg to visit and include the entire community in a conversation that needed to be had.
Lumen principal Steve Centra said “the issue still remains and the conversation needs to be continued.”
“Youth mental health is an issue that is important to the community, not just the school. We need to put things into action, to create strategies to help our kids,” Mr Centra said.
Dr Carr-Gregg will be visiting Lumen students from years nine to 12 during the day, followed by a session with the school’s staff in the afternoon. The Social Justice Advocates Group have jumped on board to help fund Mr Carr-Greggs return, who will be altering the public session to include time for questions and answers.
Last year over 350 people attended the forum.
“There were doctors, students from other schools, Councillors, parents, it was so great to see everyone attend and we hope for that turnout again,” Mr Centra said.
The forum will be held from 6pm to 7.30pm at Club Sapphire on Wednesday, March 14.
The whole Community is invited to attend this free event.
