The Year of the Dog Art Prize opened last Friday at Spiral Gallery with a large crowd of artists and art lovers attending. Paintings, prints, photographs, sculptures and ceramics featured dogs of all sorts.

First prize went to Judith Thomson for ‘Let’s Go’. Runner-up was Diana Winter with ‘Red’s Ready’. The encouragement award went to Otis Waratah for ‘Go On’. Honourable mentions were awarded to Emily Laszuk for ‘Bella’ and Jane Aliendi for ‘Love is Blind’.
Exhibition judge Kim Falkenmire presented the prizes, donated by: Candelo General Store and Café, Wild Rye’s Baking Company, Pambula Boarding Kennels and Outasite Storage, Tathra Tyre and Auto Service, Tathra Beachside, Bega Garden Nursery, Tathra Beach Tapas, Bermagui Veterinary Clinic, Candelo Books, The Plot Bodalla and Bega Cheese.
You can vote for your favourite artwork for the people’s choice. The winner will be announced after the end of the exhibition on March 14.
Entry is free. Spiral Gallery is at 47 Church St Bega. Open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm and Saturday 10am to 1pm.
