Starting with speeches from past teachers, pupils and those credited with getting the Steiner school off the ground 30 years ago, the party continued into the night with a disco, barn dance and refreshments of all types.
A special guest at the event was newly appointed CEO of Steiner Education Australia Virginia Moller, who spoke of the large worldwide “community” of which Mumbulla is a part, as well as celebrating the strength of the local community for making the venture such a success.
She spoke of the Steiner way of “supporting and empowering children to grow towards a future they understand they can create” and to “live well in a world worth living in”.
Another special part of the proceedings was the reenactment of past school photos, with plenty of former staff, pupils and board members having fun revisiting their school days.
Current deputy chairwoman of the Mumbulla board Ingrid Mitchell had other happy news to share, with the school now granted tax deductibility status, the plan is to raise enough to be able to establish an education scholarship fund in the future.
She said 10 per cent towards the goal of Mumbulla’s first scholarship had already been achieved.
After the 30th birthday cake was cut by Averil Fink, Chrisanthi McManus and Jane Dwyer, the festivities continued into the night.
