A sash and gifts were presented to Bega Showgirl Carly Pearce as well as to Junior Showgirl Renee Cooper.
Ms Pearce comes from one of the district’s prominent dairy families, with showgirl committee coordinator Marie Smith saying she was very enthusiastic about the industry and rural life in general.
“It’s a great honour to represent women in agriculture,” Ms Pearce said.
“But ultimately this is not only about me, this is for my family.”
Renee was a little more shy when the microphone was thrust on her with little notice, but thanked the society for the opportunity.
Ms Smith said Renee showed signs of following in her family’s footsteps, with both sets of grandparents keen exhibitors at the Bega Show over many years..
Outgoing 2017 Bega Show Ebony Martin congratulated her successor and wished her well for the year to come.
“I had an amazing experience, meeting a lot of young like-minded women, all with a passion in agriculture, and I really hope Carly enjoys it as much as I have,” Ms Martin said.
The newly crowned showgirls were due to have a busy weekend at the show, presenting awards and generally being a positive ambassador for the show society and the region.
