Tathra, who have remained undefeated all season, won the toss, and after batting first at home ground Lawrence Park, finished on 8/229 off 40 overs.
Sea Eagles number three, Ben O’Reilly top scored with 50, while Timms was the pick of the bowlers with 2-46 from his eight overs.
Sea Eagles captain Adam Blacka said he was happy Tathra’s lower order batsmen were able to spend some much needed time in the middle ahead of finals later this month.
Suffering from back soreness, Blacka said the game was a perfect opportunity to shift player sup the order.
“They were looking really good out there, although some players probably needed to rotate the strike a little more,” he said.
Despite his injury Blacka still managed to lift Eden bowler Bowes for 26 from the final over during a quickfire 49 not out.
Blacka sent Bowes’ first three deliveries over the mid-on boundary for six.
Blacka took guard on off stump, anticipating full pitched outswing from Bowes, who kindly obliged.
“I thought batting on off stump would give me more opportunity to get under the ball,” Blacka said.
Bowes then accommodated for Blacka’s ingenuity by bowling outside the off stump, drawing a swing and a miss from the captain.
Not to be undone, Blacka slotted the last two balls of the innings to the mid-off boundary for four.
Blacka and Check (9 n.o) put on 60 for the ninth wicket, with Blacka contributing the bulk of the runs. Blacka said Check’s smart running between the wickets helped build the partnership and a strong Sea Eagles’ total.
With Eden set a target of 230 for victory, openers Mudalier (9 n.o) and Kearney (10 n.o) saw the team to 20 for no wicket after 5 overs before rain ended play.
Needing 5.72 runs an over it was a big task for the Eden squad who sit in third place on the ladder.
Blacka said while his bowlers would have liked to play out the entire 40 overs, most elements of the team are clicking ahead of finals. While the teams bowling talent runs deep, Blacka said the squad has had difficulty claiming early wickets.
“We are able to pin teams back and we don’t drop off,” he said.
He said the team is confident heading in to the final few rounds of the season, and the squad is better positioned heading into finals than in the last few years.
“We’ve got a solid team where everybody knows their role. We haven’t over complicated anything” he said.
Meanwhile, in the region’s other 1st division match Bermagui forfeited to Merimbula before a ball was bowled.
