The Bega Hospital Auxiliary wound up another successful year with the drawing of their Christmas raffle at the South East Regional Hospital.

"This raffle is one of the auxiliary's bigger fundraisers each year, and the money raised goes to equipment for our hospital," auxiliary president Anne Sheedy said.

First prize was won by Dorothy Mullaney, second prize by Judy Holzhauser and third prize was won by Joy Smith.

“Congratulations to all the winners, and thanks to the many people who bought tickets,” Ms Sheedy said.

“The raffle was drawn by Dr Don Cave at the hospital.”

A pop up shop was opened at the hospital on December 14, and Ms Sheedy said she was “pleased with the support given by the hospital staff and the community”.

The raffle was won by Betty Rose, with second prize going to Julie Alcock, and third prize to Shirley Dawson.

“Throughout the year the auxiliary has been well supported by the business community, our local radio stations, the Bega District News and many more citizens of the Bega Valley,” Ms Sheedy said.

“The auxiliary is very grateful for all the support that has been received throughout 2017.

“Special thanks goes to Wendy Hubbard, the hospital’s general manager, Kerry Abramowski and Symon Dam, also from the hospital, who help the auxiliary in many ways.

“One of the ways we help the patients at the South East Regional Hospital is by supplying headphones, at a small cost, for the televisions we provide.

The auxiliary also provides free emergency toilet packages to those patients who were not expecting to be admitted to hospital, Ms Sheedy said.

“The new year brings a need for new members, as older members retire,” she said.

If you are interested in joining the Bega Hospital Auxiliary come along to the first meeting for 2018, on Friday, January 19, or call Ms Sheedy on 64921725.

The meeting will begin at 10am in the Group Therapy Room on the lower level of the regional hospital.
