Magistrate Doug Dick sentenced Tilley Scott, formerly of Nowra, to a non-parole period of nine months in Bega Local Court on Tuesday, December 12 for the assault on a man in his Bega home.

Scott, who was on parole at the time, claimed she had no memory of the night time assault which left her victim with severe burns.

“I don’t know if I did it or not,” she said in court via audio visual link.

Magistrate Dick told Scott prosecution “all the evidence” pointed to her guilt.

Her solicitor, John Edmunds, said the epilepsy sufferer remembered having a fit, which had affected her memory of the incident.

“She wished to be sentenced today your honour,” he said.

According to court documents, the assault occurred after Scott and the victim had been drinking on February 2 this year.

Scott slept on a recliner after received a “goodnight kiss” from her victim.

The victim later woke during the night to “very hot” water being poured by Scott from a kettle onto his groin.

After screaming in pain the victim got to his feet and pushed Scott from the premises before locking the front door.

A witness to the victim’s injuries had earlier gone to sleep in a parked car outside.

The victim contacted police five days later, and had still not seen a doctor despite suffering a serious injury to his upper thigh.

Despite police visiting the victim regularly, it wasn’t until late in April he visited a doctor for treatment, and when Scott was interviewed by police on July 25, she claimed to have no recollection of the assault.

Scott had earlier failed to appear at her November 21 sentencing, and was convicted in her absence.

She will be eligible for release in September next year.
